Staying Active in Cold Weather

These cold days are not so cool sometimes, right?

The winter season is approaching, so what you can do is either pull the blankets over your head and get back to sleep or maybe you can dress up and get ready for an outdoor adventure. Which one do you prefer?

What everybody recommends is that physical activity should be the same in every season of the year. But, is everybody’s motivation the same all year? Absolutely not.

We are aware that physical activity shouldn’t be absent during winter, because working out in colder weather has some benefits over doing it in warmer seasons.

Ariana Society suggests four ways to stay active during the colder months.

Take a Brisk Walk. It is quite simple. Walking is one of the most accessible exercises for people of every fitness level. Pros of this exercise are that you don’t need any special equipment, besides good walking shoes, a device to play your favorite songs and voila, there you have a perfect way of burning fat.

Grab your skis and head to the slopes. Snowboarding, skiing, and any other snow-based sports are what you can do only during winter. Take the chance!

Would you like to burn calories, let’s say 223 calories for a few minutes? If you do, try downhill skiing then.

Take yoga classes. Ariana Society has promoted yoga as one of the top activities to do to boost your mental, emotional, and physical health. And we continue to be confident that yoga is an amazing physical workout.

What about its benefits? Well, yoga can help on lowering cortisol levels. In addition, your body’s flexibility, strength, and endurance will be improved.

Play some music and get ready to dance. I guess this is out of the league of sports or even yoga. Think about dancing as a fun time, but at the same time, you will burn some serious calories. Maybe you can burn 90 to 266 calories for 30 minutes while dancing, but don’t get your hopes up as it depends on your gender and weight.

If you don’t like to do these activities alone, they can be group activities, which may turn out to be more entertaining and encouraging to exercise more often.
