Managing our mindset during holidays

The holiday season has arrived, and it will be markedly different from previous years. Typically, this is a time of celebration that evokes images of cozying up by the fire, baking gingerbread cookies, extending kindness to those in need, and taking a break from the daily routine to spend quality time with family and friends.

However, given the current circumstances, there may be additional concerns such as financial burdens, health worries, and the need to maintain social distance from loved ones.

Amidst all of these changes, it can be easy to become overwhelmed by stress and lose sight of the true meaning of the holidays, which is to experience and spread joy, kindness, and gratitude for all that you have.

Ariana Society suggests that during the holiday season, meditation can be a helpful tool to focus on what truly matters. Although you may not have control over external factors, meditation can aid in managing overwhelming emotions.

To enhance feelings of joy, kindness, and gratitude, aim to meditate for 10 to 15 minutes daily until the end of the year. To start, find a peaceful and comfortable place to sit alone, disconnect from distractions, and consider playing calming music. Close your eyes and inhale and exhale slowly and deeply through your nose to achieve a calm and centered state of mind. Observe any changes in your thoughts, emotions, energy, and physical sensations.

Embrace the holiday season and discover new ways to make it even more joyful.
