How to Host a Private Video Conference

With so many people working from home, meeting at home, holding virtual brunches and basically living life from behind a screen, video conferencing has become an integral part of the New Normal.

Popular services like Zoom and Microsoft Teams are powering the business world, but have their limitations and security risks.  If you’re looking for an alternative, you may already have one right inside your Ariana Society portal.

In addition to providing a general group video chat line and private rooms for members, did you know that you can also launch a private, secure and encrypted video conference right from Ariana Society?  And you can invite anyone, even if they’re not a member!   Here’s how:

First, log in to your Ariana Society home page.  Note that you do have to be an Ariana Society member to launch a video conference. If you’re not one already, you can sign up at here: https://arianasociety.com/join

Once you’re logged in, click “Community” in the top menu.  The discussion forums will load, but you’ll have a secondary menu across the top of the forums.

From the secondary menu, click “Private Video Room.” You’ll be prompted to name your video conference room; you can choose any name you want, then click “Accept.”  Your video conference room will open. Note that you may need to allow access to your camera and microphone to fully access the service.

So, now your video conference is live, but how do you share it?

This part is even easier.  Just click the blue “Invite More People” at the top of your video chat window. You’ll have several options for sending invitations, including a direct link, shortcuts to email and text, and even a dial-in number for people who want to join by phone.  It’s not necessary for any of your invitees to be Ariana Society members, and you can invite as many as you wish.

It’s that easy to launch a private video conference from Ariana Society.  Why not try it today?
